Patient Annette Stanger successfully sues dentist Dr David Bush, formerly of Tonbrdige Dental Centre, and wins £10,000 compensation

A woman has been awarded £10,800 in compensation in an out-of-court settlement after substandard care led to the loss of two teeth.
Annette Stanger successfully sued Dr David Bush, formerly of Tonbridge Dental Centre, for failing to diagnose and treat tooth decay.
The 47-year-old, who lives in the town, started to see Dr Bush in 2002 when she had concerns about gum discolouration following a root canal procedure.
The dentist assured the patient everything was fine and did not provide her with any treatment, despite x-rays showing the mother-of-one had decay underneath the crowned tooth.
In 2008, Dr Bush removed Ms Stanger’s tooth without giving her an alternative option.
In 2012, Ms Stanger, who had by this time started to see another dentist, had another tooth removed because Dr Bush had failed to fully remove decay.
“Knowing that it all could have been avoided if he had treated me properly is really upsetting, but I’m glad my case has been settled" - Annette Stanger
Solicitor Heather Williams, of The Dental Law Partnership (DLP), represented Ms Stanger.
She said: “It is clear Annette’s condition became as bad as it did because of Dr Bush’s substandard care.
“He had a number of opportunities to treat her, but failed to do so.
“She has now lost two teeth as a result of his inaction that could have otherwise been saved.”
Ms Stanger said: “Knowing that it all could have been avoided if he had treated me properly is really upsetting, but I’m glad my case has been settled now so I can begin to move on.”
Dr Bush did not admit liability.
