A PUBLIC meeting for frustrated rail users takes place in Tonbridge next week.

The Rail Passengers Committee Southern England is organising the event at Tonbridge School in the High Street on Tuesday.

Senior staff from southern England's train operating companies, Network Rail, the British Transport Police and the Strategic Rail Authority will be present to take part in the debate and to present their plans for improving services.

There will be a workshop in the morning to examine delays and disruptions, how they are caused and what can be done to reduce inconvenience to passengers.

In the afternoon, Michael Holden, managing director of South Eastern Trains, will present a progress report on performance and the introduction of new trains and other issues, including the latest situation on the Integrated Kent Franchise.

The meeting will end with a public forum where there will be an opportunity to question senior industry representatives. Admission to the meeting is free.

Light refreshments will also be served to the public.The meeting runs from 10.30 am to 4.30pm.
