A child rapist who subjected his victim to a "truly harrowing" woodland attack has been jailed.

Courtney Porter denied carrying out the horrific abuse in land off Higham Lane in Tonbridge between November 28 and December 1, claiming the sexual activity was consensual.

But on Wednesday Porter, of Trench Road, was convicted of rape and two counts of assault by penetration by a jury at Maidstone Crown Court.

Lead investigator DC Falconer, of the West Kent vulnerability investigation team, said: "This was a predatory assault carried out in an isolated area where Porter knew he wouldn’t be disturbed.

"He has subjected his young victim to a truly harrowing ordeal and no doubt caused immeasurable long term damage and distress."

The 20-year-old was sentenced to eight-and-a-half-years in prison, of which he must serve two thirds before he can be considered eligible for parole.

Porter was also added to the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.

"He is clearly a dangerous individual..."

DC Falconer said: "I would like to thank the victim for the tremendous courage they have shown to give evidence and help us ensure Porter is now serving a significant prison sentence.

"He is clearly a dangerous individual and the streets are certainly a safer place now he is in prison.

"I hope the sentence will provide some comfort to the victim that at least justice has now been served."

An NSPCC spokesperson said: "Porter’s horrific abuse has been brought to light thanks to the bravery of his victim in coming forward.

"Child sexual abuse can cause trauma and pain that lasts a lifetime and we hope the survivor in this case is receiving all the support required to overcome this ordeal."
