The Christmas lights switch on held in Tonbridge High Street welcomed Mayor Sasha Luck, kmfm's Andy Walker and Razzamataz pupils

Dozens of excited faces arrived in Tonbridge ready for the annual Christmas lights switch on.

The cold and rainy weather didn't phase visitors who made their way through the High Street to see the town light up.

kmfm's Andy Walker attended with local panto stars, the Tonbridge Scout and Guide Band and youngsters from Razzamataz Theatre School.

Festive events started at 1.30pm and visitors, wrapped up warm for the evening, watched the 17th Tonbridge Scout and Guide Band march through the High Street.

On-stage musical entertainment began just after 2pm and continued throughout the event.

Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling Cllr Sasha Luck was joined by stars from the Angel Centre Pantomime "Robin and Babes in the Wood" for the official switch on.

Cllr Sasha Luck, said: “I was so impressed by the talent of all those who provided the on-stage entertainment this year and I’d like to say a huge thank you to them for taking part.

"It was very exciting to get on the stage myself with the pantomime stars to switch on the lights – Christmas has well and truly arrived in Tonbridge!"

The event was organised by the Tonbridge Rotary Club.
