Parking charges to increase at Haysden Country Park, Tonbridge

Car parking fees at a popular country park are going up.

Tonbridge and Malling council has decided to press ahead with the increases at Haysden Country Park on the western outskirts of Tonbridge despite some objections.

Parking fees at the 65 hectare park will rise by 20p to £2 for a four-hour stay, and by 50p to £4.50 for more than four hours.

A 12-month season ticket will increase by £5 to £65.

It was anticipated that the new charges will come into effect in late July.

Despite a three-week public consultation in January, only four objections were received, and two of those were from ex-councillors. The two members of the public who objected were both season tickets holders.

The cabinet concluded it could safely “set aside” their objections when it voted to increase the fees at a meeting held on Tuesday, June 6.

The council says all money generated from car parking charges in this car park helps maintain and improve the country park.
