Motorist who like to use the A21 near Tonbridge will have less than a happy new year.
Highways England has announced the road will be closed around Tonbridge to traffic in both directions for a full 106 hours, starting at 8pm on Wednesday, January 8, and running right through until 6am on Monday, January 13.
The closure is to enable maintenance work on parts of the A21 Medway Viaduct and to the Manor Farm subway, also on the A21.
As well as the full four-day closure, there will be selective overnight lane closures starting on January 2, between the Sevenoaks Weald Interchange and the Vauxhall Lane Interchange.
Overnight closures will be lifted at 6am.
Completion of the works is scheduled for February 3.
When the A21 is closed, southbound traffic will be diverted at the Sevenoaks Weald Interchange and should take the second exit to follow the B245 (Hildenborough) to the A227 southbound and then take the second left along Bordyke Road/Hadlow Road.
From there, traffic will follow Cannon Lane/A26 and re-join the A21 southbound at the Vauxhall Lane Interchange.
Northbound traffic will be diverted at the Vauxhall Lane Interchange and will take the third exit at the following roundabout onto the A26.
Traffic will then turn left to join Hadlow Road/ Bordyke Road followed by a right turn to join the A227/B245, following the B245 until Sevenoaks Weald where traffic will then merge onto the A21 northbound via the third exit.
