Firefighters were called to a house in Tonbridge that nearly went up in flames after a cooker hood filter caught fire.
Crews received the call just before 6pm yesterday and attended the property in Copper Beech View.
On arrival they were faced with a fire that was caused by burning oil that had ignited a cooker hood filter and had spread.
Breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and positive pressure ventilation fans were used.
The fire was confined to the kitchen but other parts of the property suffered from light smoke damage.
The cause of the fire was deemed accidental.
