Former Tonbridge pub, Queens Head in Five Oak Green, up for auction

A former Tonbridge pub is to go under the hammer at auction.

The Queens Head pub in Five Oak Green is among 146 lots listed by Clive Emson, the land and property auctioneers, at its sale this month.

The pub is sited between Paddock Wood and Tonbridge and has a freehold guide price of £160-170,000.

A new owner might wish to continue to run the business as a pub, or perhaps turn it into a restaurant.

And, subject to all consents being obtainable, it might be possible to convert the building and develop the site.

John Stockey, auctioneer, said; “This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who wants to run their own business.

“It is a well-known pub, but might also have a future as a restaurant. And the sale might attract those who can see development potential; however all consents must be obtainable.

“With the property market and the economy seemingly on the road to recovery, this could prove to be a shrewd investment.”

Meanwhile in Brenchley off Fairmans Lane is Plum Orchard, a 12 acre site with stables and a barn.

The current owners have run the site as an orchard, harvesting cherries, plums and apples.

A new owner could continue to run it as an orchard or perhaps find a new use, subject to all consents being obtainable.

The independent company Clive Emson Auctioneers holds eight rounds of auctions at five locations from Essex to Cornwall on consecutive days every six weeks, this time with a total of 146 lots.

Last month's (July) round of five Clive Emson auctions across southern England raised more than £80m, with a better than 80% success rate.

In the year to date the company has catalogued 867 lots and sold just under £90 million worth of property, achieving a success rate of over 85%.

Starting at 11am, the sixth of Clive Emson’s regional Kent auctions in 2015 takes place at The Clive Emson Conference Centre, Kent County Showground, Maidstone, on Wednesday, September 16.
