Another caller has posed as aDet Ins Warren from the fraud squad.
Incidents have been reported in West Malling, Leybourne, Larkfield, Ditton, Trottiscliffe, Borough Green and Birling.
In most cases no money has been exchanged however some elderly people have been tricked into handing over large sums of money.
Det Insp Mark Hutcheon said: "This type of fraud is being committed in numerous locations but people in the areas mentioned are particularly at risk.
"I would like to remind everyone to be on their guard against heartless criminals who are trying to deceive you.
"If you receive a call like this you should end it immediately but even then you should remain wary.
"Do not use your line again for at least five minutes as the scammer may still be listening in. You should also never hand over money as a result from one of these calls.
