Households in Tonbridge and Malling will soon receive an important electoral registration form to fill in.
The borough council is beginning the process of renewing its register of electors and residents must be on it in order to be able to vote in the elections next May.
Registration is also necessary ahead of any by-election or referendum that may take place.
Every household must complete the form, which will be delivered next week.
Julie Beilby, acting returning officer and chief executive of Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council, said: “Completing the form is extremely important because we need to know who is living at your address so we can help ensure that they are registered to vote.
"We don’t get this information from council tax records or from any other organisations so we need to hear from you.
“The form is easy to fill in – if the details already printed on the form are correct and you don’t need to make any changes, you can tell us online or by telephone for free or by text message using the details on the form.
"If you do have changes to make, you can respond online or by completing and returning the paper form we send to you. You can also tell us if you would like to vote by post so that you don’t miss your chance to vote even if you are away on polling day
“So, please complete your form as soon as possible and make sure you don’t ‘lose your voice’ at future elections. Each response we receive now will also save the council money, as we won’t need to send you a reminder, helping us to work in the most efficient way.”
