Police divers are searching the murky waters of the River Medway in Tonbridge as a search steps up to find a missing man.
There has been a large police presence near Tonbridge Swimming Pool and New Wharf Road all morning.
This afternoon a specialist search and rescue helicopter was brought in and a team of divers were seen in the river between the Tonbridge Canoe club and Tonbridge Castle.
A spokesman from the force said: "Police officers are currently in the area of the River Medway in Tonbridge town centre in connection with a search for a missing person."
Officers are being assisted by members of Kent Search and Rescue and by divers from Specialist Group International, who provide underwater search and recovery expertise for police forces across the South, including Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Essex West Midlands and Hampshire.
On Tuesday, David Haselden, 84, went missing from his home in Tonbridge. He was last seen about 3pm that day.
David is described as white and around five feet and seven inches, with a slim build. He has short grey hair and is believed to be wearing hiking boots and carrying a backpack.
Anyone who may have seen Mr Haselden or has any other information is urged to call 999, quoting reference 18-1048.
