THE kidnapped wife of a Kent security depot manager has told a jury at the Old Bailey that she thought armed robbers would kill both her and her child.
Lynn Dixon and the child were snatched from their home by two men posing as policemen, the court was told.
Mrs Dixon told a hushed courtroom: "They said they had guns. I didn’t think we’d survive the night."
She said she first noticed something was wrong when she saw that the radio of the supposed police car was tuned to Magic FM.
She said: "I asked to see some identification." The men said it was in the boot of the car and Mrs Dixon began to scream, the court heard.
One of the kidnappers receached over and put a hand over her mouth to stifle her screams.
Mrs Dixon told the jury: "My foot was still outside the car. The door was shut on my leg."
Her child began shouting and asked: "Why are you hurting my Mum?", she said.
The car drove off at speed from her home in Herne Bay and 10 minutes later arrived at a rendezvous point in Brenley Lane.
There, Mrs Dixon and her child were transferred to the back of a red van, the court heard.
The kidnappers had lured Mrs Dixon out of her house by telling her that her husband, Colin, had been involved in a car accident, she said. The men said they would take her to the hospital to see him.
But Mr Dixon had also been kidnapped by men posing as police officers earlier that eveining, according to the prosecution.
He told the court that his family had been left traumatised by their ordeal. He said: "Both my wife and myself are suffering from something called post traumatic stress disorder.
"We have lost our home - it was our home. We lived there for 20 years, but I’ve only been back for 10 minutes since.
"The job I’ve been doing for seven years - I can’t go back there. And my child’s schooling has been interupted. He added: "No child should go through that."
