Members of Razzamataz Theatre School in Tonbridge were welcomed to bounds of fun at a kmfm street party held yesterday.

The Right Up Your Street party rolled into Hayesbrook School in Brook Street and brought with it a bouncy castle, face painting, and an ice cream van full of goodies.

Last week kmfm asked members of the public to tell them why the party should come to their street, and selected one winner every day.

Razzamataz was the lucky winner for the area and over 30 students turned up to take part in the fun hosted by kmfm presenter Ben Pearce.

Dave Mac, principal of the theatre school said: “It was just such a fantastic day, a huge thank you to the Kent Messenger and kmfm staff who were brilliant with the children.

"They had such a good day and enjoyed the events. Even the parents got involved with face painting. I can’t say how thankful we are.”

The school launched in last September last year and in November 60 students performed on stage for the town’s Christmas lights presentation.

Since then they have performed at Tonbridge Carnival, Kent County Show and KMFM presenter Olivia Jones opened their first ever stage show at the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks on Saturday, August 2.

Staff and students rehearse at the Hayesbrook School, and Mr Mac added: “The school has been a massive support in ensuring we have a fabulous and safe venue for local young people from 2-18 years old, to spend their Saturdays having fun learning the performing arts.

“The students are the real success story and are a credit to the youth of Kent, they should be very proud of themselves.”

The party ran from 12pm - 2pm and will be making its way to Margate today.
