Man videoed waving knife and threatening members of the public in Quarry Hill Road, Tonbridge

A man has been filmed waving a large knife around and threatening members of the public.

The hooded figure can be seen walking past McColl's in Quarry Hill Road, Tonbridge, before, seemingly unprovoked, he pulled out the blade and pointed it at a passerby.

He then allegedly threatened a lady and stole her suitcase.

It happened on Friday at around 1.30pm.

Another video showed the man being pinned down by officers near the police station.

One eyewitness said he saw 30 officers run out of the station towards him.

He said: "He was trying to stab up the roadworkers who were widening the road.

"Then he put the knife up to a woman's head and stole her suitcase."

The man apparently then went into a shop and walked out with some food and drink before waving the knife around again.

Nearby stores locked their doors and windows but he then broke them with the weapon.
