DETECTIVES hunting the gang behind the £53m Securitas robbery at Tonbridge believe they have now found the white lorry used in the raid.
A vehicle fitting the description of the 7.7 tonne Renault Midlum truck caught on CCTV is now being examined by forensic experts after being recovered in Kent.
Police have not discclosed where the Renault lorry was discovered.
The lorry was used to load the money at the Securitas depot in Tonbridge and is also believed to have been used to dump money crates in fields at the top of Detling Hill near Thurnham.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw anything in this area at around 9.30am on Wednesday last week (February 22).
Separately, another person, a woman, was arrested on Monday in connection with the investigation.
Meanwhile. police continue to question the four people already in custody. Magistrates have granted warrants of further detention for 26 hours, allowing detectives more time to interview two men arrested on Sunday.
Searches continue at a number of addresses in Kent and across the south east as the investigation team follows up further leads.
One week after the robbery, road checks are being conducted at key locations in the county linked to the crime.
Assistant Chief Constable Adrian Leppard said: “We hope to jog people’s memories. Did they see anything last week – and did the gang test their plan and the route they used in the weeks running up to the robbery?
“Over the past few days we have been following up a number of highly promising leads and I remain confident that we are closer to catching those involved in the robbery.”
