A jury has been selected for the trial of a man accused of murdering his father and seriously wounding his brother.
Although 12 jurors and two “reserves” were sworn in the case against Patrick Murphy will not be opened by the prosecution until Friday.
Murphy, of Hectorage Road, Tonbridge, denies murder, wounding with intent and having an offensive weapon.
The 30-year-old is alleged to have killed Joe Murphy, who was 54, on May 19 last year and wounded Mark Murphy, 34, with a kitchen knife.
Mark Murphy suffered wounds to his throat, upper arm and hand. He was treated in King’s College Hospital in London.
Appearing in the dock with Murphy is a woman acting as an intermediary, who Judge Philip Statman said would “assist with certain matters”.
The jury of seven men and five women was told the trial could last up to three weeks.
