Man treated in hospital after fire at caravan in Horsmonden

A blaze which left a man in hospital is believed to have been started in discarded embers from a fire.

Two fire crews were called to a mobile home in Grovehurst Lane, Horsmonden at around 3.40am today.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally on the decked area at the back of the large mobile home, and then spread to the sides and roof of the property.

The man inside tried to put it out using a garden hose before crews arrived.

They used a high pressure hose reel, thermal imaging cameras and a short extension ladder. They also spent time cutting away, damping down and helping the family with salvage.

A man, thought to be in his 40s, went to hospital suffering from burns to his lower leg.
