A Kent based company has released a new simple beer making kit, meaning beer lovers can now brew their own batch.
Independent business Moodley's has launched its kit which uses Kent grown hops and can be purchased from markets across the county.
Taking less than two hours to prepare, and arriving with simple instructions, anyone can start brewing despite having no prior experience.
The Tonbridge-based business, which was launched in 2008 by owner Yudhistra Moodley, revealed its new invention at the Tunbridge Wells Farmer's Market held in June.
He said: “I felt that there wasn’t a kit that gave you the same quality of beer as you would drink from a craft brewery.
“The kit builds on my experience as a professional brewer to create a product that uses the same ingredients microbreweries use.”
It includes crushed malted barley, whole Kent grown hops and yeast meaning sugar, water and a 5 litre saucepan are the only additional items required.
More can be bought from the online shop, farmer’s markets and Notcutts Garden Centre on Tonbridge Road, Pembury so that the kit can be reused.
The preparation time is less than two hours and the fermentation period is two weeks.
Designed for both the beer enthusiast and the gift market, Yudhistra said: “I want this to appeal to a wide range of people; men and women of all ages.”
“I felt that there wasn’t a kit that gave you the same quality of beer as you would drink from a craft brewery" - Yudhistra Moodley
A self-taught brewer, he started out from his home in Rusthall, working hard to craft his first signature beer, Toad Rock Bitter; a pale, easy drinking beer, made with Kentish hops.
He added: "Once I felt I had the recipe just right, I bottled it and started to take it around to farm shops. The response was phenomenal and encouraged me to keep going and start crafting new varieties of beers."
In 2009 Yudhistra moved into his own Microbrewery based at Bowens Farm in Penshurst.
