A busy railway line came to a standstill after a person was struck by a train and killed.
British Transport Police, Kent Police and ambulance crews all attended Hildenborough Station last night at around midnight.
Railway users were left stranded for three hours following the incident and delays remain in place this morning.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “BTP officers were called to Hildenborough on Friday after a report that a person had been struck by a train.
“Officers from BTP and Kent Police attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 12.34am hours and is currently being treated as non-suspicious. The person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Officers believe they know the identity of the person and have informed their next of kin. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
