Roadside check ends missing mother mystery

POLICE have discovered that a missing mother is safe and well following fears that she had possibly come to some harm.

Tracey Coverdale, 39, from Town Acres, Tonbridge, had not been seen since St Valentine's Day.

At that time she was expected to be away for the weekend and had made arrangements with her husband to care for the children, aged three and 10.

Mrs Coverdale had also spoken to her parents on the telephone that morning, but then disappeared. It was thought she might be driving her Y-registered BMW Z3 convertible sports car.

Police issued an appeal to the public for information about Mrs Coverdale or her whereabouts, saying that they were "very concerned" about her safety.

Nothing was heard for more than a week but on Sunday police in Sussex were carrying out roadside checks on traffic when they recognised a driver as Mrs Coverdale.

After assuring officers as to her welfare, she was allowed to proceed and police no longer have her listed as a missing person.

A Kent police spokeswoman said: "We are satisfied Mrs Coverdale has been traced to a location in Sussex and is safe and well."
