Where can you see Salvador Dali, Elizabeth I and Winston Churchill this weekend?
In the shops of Tonbridge, of course.
Organisers hope 45 scarecrow effigies of famous characters - appearing in shops throughout the town - will knock the stuffing out of other bank holiday entertainment.
From May 2-4, visitors can buy competition forms for £1 and answer questions about 15 scarecrow characters. Successfully completed forms will enter a prize draw sponsored by Waitrose and Beales.
Following last year’s success, when the “heroes” themed trail raised more than £600 for the Carers First Youth Project, all proceeds will again go to the charity.
Main organiser Cllr David Aikman said there was “a surprising lot of participation last year, and we are hoping for even more visitors this time”.
Face-painting and other activities are set to make the Scarecrow Trail a weekend of fun for the whole family.
The event, funded by the Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council and the local Rotary Club, was first inspired by similar trails in Lacock and Wadhurst.
Tonbridge mayor Cllr Chris Smith will present certificates for the best scarecrows at the end of the weekend, with three categories of awards: primary and secondary schools, as well as general visitors.
