FOR Kelly Holmes, being the talk of the nation still hasn't quite sunk in.

Speaking from her family home in Hildenborough, the 34-year-old double Olympic champion was in complete awe of the media frenzy surrounding her.

Kelly came home to find a party laid on at the Hilden Manor in Tonbridge.

"It's really fantastic to be back here," she said, "I haven't been home for a long while and it's great to see all my friends and family."

Kelly admitted she did not feel the public pressure on her to win a second gold. She said: "I was so pleased and shocked to have won the 800, I just wanted to enjoy the 1500 and see what happened."

So did she expect to win that second gold on Saturday?

"This was my last opportunity to do something special like this and I was 100 per cent focused. I was confident in my ability to run the race how I wanted.

"Crossing that finishing line I really was on my last legs. I was gobsmacked I had won!"
