A suspected shoplifter has been charged following reports nearly £200 worth of goods were stolen from an Aldi.
Bobby Thorpe was arrested yesterday by police investigating a number of allegations related to residents and retailers in Tonbridge.
It comes after a 10-day period of thefts, threats and violence were reported to the force between January 26 and last Saturday.
Among the reports were separate assaults against two men and repeated incidents of abusive and threatening language towards one of the victims.
It is also alleged goods valued at £192 were stolen from the Aldi supermarket near Cannon Lane.
Thorpe, 30, of Royal West Kent Avenue in Tonbridge, has since been charged with two counts of assault and two offences contained under the Public Order Act 1986.
He was further charged with theft in relation to the Aldi allegations.
Thorpe was remanded in custody and appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court.
He was granted bail and is due to appear before the same court on July 7.
