Toxic asbestos on board stolen lorry

A lorry load of toxic asbestos could be at large somewhere in the county.

A Ford Tipper lorry was taken from the carpark of Southern Asbestos, Cannon Lane, Tonbridge, some time between last Friday and Monday.

The white lorry, with a black tipper, was carrying 30 bags of asbestos insulation waste.

Neighbourhood officer PC Claire Taylor said: "Naturally we are very keen to trace the lorry and would ask anyone with information to contact us.

"The insulation waste was safely bagged when it was put in the truck but is very toxic and is a high risk substance.

"Anyone tampering with the bags would be putting themselves at risk and I would urge extreme caution."

Anyone with information should contact police on 01732 379217 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Information can also be emailed to appeals.westkent@kent.pnn.police.uk
