Commuters can expect severe disruption today on Southern trains from Ashford and Tonbridge as workers stage another strike.
Members of the RMT are walking out for the third time as part of an ongoing dispute over the role of conductors.
The union said plans to remove them from trains will put customers at risk, but the train company said safety won't be compromised.
Paul Cox from the RMT said: "Everyone knows that the most visible part of the guard's role is when he's standing on the platform blowing his whistle and telling people to board the train safely."
The rail operator has warned the strike would have a “significant effect” on services throughout the day.
It will mean no trains on some routes and only a limited service on others between 7.30am and 6pm.
