Trains on a Kent railway line are unable to run today due to staff shortages.

Network Rail bosses have apologised for the disruption between Tonbridge and Robertsbridge, in East Sussex, which Southeastern says is expected until 6pm.

A limited shuttle train service will run between Robertsbridge and Hastings.

Southeastern said: “A shortage of available signalling staff on the Hastings line means trains cannot run between Tonbridge and Robertsbridge in either direction.

“Additionally, some Hastings line trains between Tonbridge and London Bridge have been cancelled due to a shortage of train crew.”

The firm says customers can use their tickets at no extra cost on Southern services between Hastings and London, Highspeed services via Ashford and on Arriva bus route 402 and Stagecoach route 1066.

The route between Tonbridge and Robertsbridge includes stops at High Brooms, Tunbridge Wells, Frant, Wadhurst, Stonegate and Etchingham.

Customers may be entitled to compensation from Southeastern if they experience delays.

Network Rail posted on X: “We’re very sorry for the disruption to customers this morning on the Hastings line, as a result of a shortage of signallers in the area.”
