This year will mark three decades of colourful and vibrant carnivals in Tonbridge organised by the Lions group.
The theme for 2019 is Flower Power, and the carnival on Sunday, June 16, usefully coincides with Father's Day, giving double cause for celebration.
To start proceedings, the Baccus Wind Orchestra will play at the Watergate from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
The carnival procession will assemble in the Sainsbury’s front car park and will include bands, walking groups, floats, majorettes and this year will also feature a number of iconic BMC Minis to celebrate their 60th anniversary.
The parade leaves the car park at 12.15pm and moves up the High Street to Bank Street.
Following the procession there will be a dance display on the Cannon Lawn by the Nepalese Dancers.
Then from 1pm, there will be a fête and entertainment on the Castle Lawn and along Castle Walk providing an array of activities for the whole afternoon.
The entertainment includes songs from The Palms Trio, dance displays by The Stage Coach Theatre School, The Cannon School of Irish Dancing, and The Showtime Theatre School.
The 17th Scout and Guide Band will be performing a marching display and Bloco Fogo will finish the proceedings with their usual samba drumming flourish.
There will be plenty of other entertainments available during the afternoon, including a children’s magician, Punch and Judy, kiddies corner and “Soak your Dad in the Stocks.”
The carnival is organised annually by Tonbridge Lions Club with the support of Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council.
This year's main sponsors are the Hadlow College Group and Cooper Mini Tunbridge Wells.
Proceeds from the day will benefit local charities and those in need or disadvantaged in the Tonbridge community.
