A Tonbridge woman has been disqualified from driving for two years after she was stopped whilst nearly three times over the drink-driving limit.

Alexandra Whelpton pleaded not guilty to the offence following an incident in Fordcombe Road, Penshurst on February 13 2013, but was convicted by magistrates.

The 24-year-old, of Chiddingstone Causeway, drove a VW Beetle and when stopped gave a breath test of 103 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

On Thursday, October 9, magistrates disqualified Whelpton from driving for two years and ordered her to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

She must also pay £1,600 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Disqualification can be reduced by six months if, by February, 8 2016, she satisfactorily completes a Government-approved drink drive rehabilitation course, the cost of which will not exceed £250.
