A 22-year-old man has appeared in court accused of killing a man who died after a fire at his Kent flat.

John Skilton, 46, died in hospital after the blaze at his home in Bridge Close, Tonbridge, in the early hours of January 21.

Stuart Willard, a labourer of Lodge Oak Lane in the town, was charged with his manslaughter on Tuesday night.

He was also charged with 11 other offences of arson between August 2005 and January 2007.

He was remanded in custody by magistrates in Sevenoaks on Wednesday.

An inquest into Mr Skilton's death was opened and adjourned in February.
