Alex Akrofi is fit and ready to fire at Tonbridge after a pre-season injury.
Striker Akrofi made his first appearance of the season during Angels’ Kent Senior Cup tie against former club Maidstone on Tuesday night.
He proved his fitness as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 defeat, receiving a big ovation from both sets of fans.
The next challenge is to earn a starting place, with unbeaten Angels off to Bostik Premier pace-setters Harrow on Saturday before hosting Folkestone on Bank Holiday Monday.
Akrofi said: “I started pre-season with a little injury and Tuesday night was my first game.
“We’ve not lost in the league, we’ve not conceded and the boys are doing well.
“I might have to wait a little while for my opportunity but once I get in the side, I expect to stay in the side.
“I scored 15 goals in half a season after coming here but I want to play a full season and score as many goals as possible.”
Akrofi joined Tonbridge after a brief spell at Hastings and has flourished under Angels boss Steve McKimm.
He said: “Steve’s brilliant. He’s exactly what I needed at this moment.
“He’s very honest with you but he also demands a lot of you, which is good, and he also reminds me to enjoy it.”
Tonbridge fell out of play-off contention last season and are determined to go one better.
Akrofi said: “We’ve got a really good team and we’ve made a solid start.
“So many clubs have a chance of getting promoted but we’re just looking at ourselves.
“Last year wasn’t good enough - we should have got to the play-offs - but we’re very focused in what we’re doing and if we pick up as many points as possible, it doesn’t matter about anyone else.”
