Former Farnborough, Sittingbourne and Folkestone Invicta striker Joe Taylor will be used as a main striker by Tonbridge Angels manager Steve McKimm

New signing Joe Taylor will give Tonbridge Angels a different dimension after being told by manager Steve McKimm to play as a centre-forward.
Taylor joined Angels last week, having already played for Farnborough, Folkestone and Ramsgate this season. He netted 27 times for Sittingbourne last term and has often operated on the wing in recent months – but McKimm sees him as someone who can lead the Tonbridge attack.
He said: “I want him down the middle. Even on Saturday (against Margate), he was drifting out to wide positions and I don’t want him to do that.
“I want him to play as a central figure, to use his strength and height, protect the ball for us and bring other people into play, which we haven’t had this season.
“We’ve been playing the ball on the floor and Joe will give us a bit more presence in terms of his build.
“He’s someone I talked to in the summer. I spoke to him but he wanted to go to Farnborough and give it a go at a higher level.
“He scored a few goals there but for one reason or another it didn’t work out and he went to Folkestone. At the time, I didn’t have any room for another striker and then when I knew he’d gone on loan to Ramsgate, I’d missed him by a few days, when I released Alex Teniola.
“I’ve now got Joe, Marvin (Williams), and Royce (Greenidge) fighting for two places and whoever plays best will start – but I’ve got no problem bringing someone else on.”
