Tonbridge Juddians have a share of the National League 2 East table lead following their 50-10 thrashing of Sevenoaks.

Juddians ran in seven tries, most from distance, to make it three wins from three while Oaks remain winless.

Things started well for the visitors as they pinned TJs in their own half, but they could not find a cutting edge and the hosts escaped up field to score the game’s first try.

Solid work from the forwards and centres set up field position and George Merrick was too big and powerful to be stopped. Tom White added the extras after 10 minutes.

A Sevenoaks penalty reduced the lead to four points, but both teams were getting on the wrong side of the officials and offside line too often, with a yellow card apiece in quick succession.

The extra space was exploited best by Judds as their powerful forwards did the damage upfield before the backs combined to send flanker and captain Tommy Nicoll in under the sticks.

They repeated the dose straight from the restart and after making ground on the left the ball came inside with the pack and scrum-half Matt Walsh dummied to pass and then dotted down for a 21-3 advantage after half an hour.

Despite a quiet end to the half with Tonbridge adding a penalty from White it felt like things might run away from the visitors quickly if TJs were able to add some accuracy to their game.

Soon after the break they secured their try bonus point with a flowing move that again found Nicoll on hand to take the scoring pass. White’s conversion made it 31-3.

Hugo Culverhouse added a well-worked fifth try before Curtis Barnes turned up for his seventh in three games, White once more converting.

Oaks had some respite when a speculative kick found space and the ball was dotted down and try awarded to make it 43-10. Tonbridge, though, had the final say and after some incisive running in the backs Howard Packman finished things off, White adding the extras, just before the final whistle.

Tonbridge head to Worthing on Saturday.
