Ramsgate boss Jim Ward saw his side lose at home

Maidstone United's fine away form came to an end with a 3-1 defeat against Horsham on Wednesday night.

The Stones had won four and drawn one of their five games on the road this season but gave the Hornets their first win in eight league attempts.

Evan Archibald gave the hosts the lead from a corner after 12 minutes and Mark Knee doubled the advantage on 26 minutes.

Ian Selley reduced the arrears from the spot soon after but Lee Farrell wrapped up the points with 20 minutes remaining.

There was disappointment for both Kent sides in action on Tuesday night.

Tonbridge missed the chance to move into the top four after losing at in-form AFC Hornchurch.

The Angels fell behind after six minutes when Elliot Styles beat the static Tim Olarunda to a corner to head home and despite pressing forward Tonbridge went in 1-0 down at the break.

The visitors turned in a poor second half performance and went 2-0 behind when Lewis Hamilton conceded a 49th minute penalty after Olarunda failed to clear.

Mark Janney converted from 12 yards but Angels keeper Lee Worgan got a firm hand to his spot-kick.

Kris Lee completed a miserable night for the travelling Tonbridge fans after 72 minutes when he burst past several Angels players before firing past Worgan.

Jim Ward's Ramsgate continued their miserable form with a 2-1 home defeat to Carshalton.

The visitors took a fifth-minute lead through Dean Carpenter and he doubled their advantage early in the second half before Ramsgate pulled one back with five minutes left. Jay May's header came off the inside of the post, with Ryan Royston forcing the ball over the line.

Results: Ryman League Premier Division AFC Hornchurch 3 Tonbridge 0, Ramsgate 1 Carshalton 2, Horsham 3 Maidstone 1.
