Angels gearing up for 'plum tie'

WARRILOW: "We're not going there in awe of them so we have half a chance"

Oxford United v Tonbridge Angels

TONBRIDGE Angels go to Oxford United on Saturday in the first round proper of the FA Trophy in what manager Tommy Warrilow calls "the plum tie".

The Us, currently 12th in the Blue Square Premier, play at the 12,500 capacity Kassam Stadium and although they were relegated from League 2 in 2006 they still play in front of crowds averaging 5,000.

Warrilow said: "In terms of a non league draw, Oxford United with their stadium, history and set-up is the plum tie.

"But we will be approaching the game like any other. They’re only two leagues above us and we’re not going there in awe of them so we have half a chance."

He added: "We will play our own game. We’ve been working hard on getting the ball back when we lose possession by hunting in packs and, once we have it, relaxing and spreading the play."

Warrilow is without the cup-tied Cark Rook, John Westcott and Akwasi Edusei while Scott Kinch, Ray Powell and Fraser Logan are subject to fitness tests.
