Tonbridge boss Steve McKimm has challenged his players to get themselves into the top half of the table by the turn of the year.
Angels are 18th in the Ryman League Premier Division, five points above the relegation zone but with games in hand over several of the sides around them.
They haven’t won back-to-back games since September but McKimm’s challenged them to put a serious run together - starting with Saturday’s trip to struggling Lewes.
He said: “Between now and January, I want us to be around 10th or 12th position. That’s tough for the players, because four of our next five games are away from home and we’ve got the two promotion candidates - Margate and Maidstone - just after Christmas.
“But that would allow us to look at where we are and look at the squad. If I’m allowed to add a player, we could really push on in the second part of the season.”
A new striker is top of McKimm’s wish list after Billy Medlock this week signed an 18-month contract with Sutton United after a successful loan spell.
Tonbridge follow Saturday’s clash with another road trip - to Dulwich Hamlet - on Tuesday.
They exited the FA Trophy on Tuesday night, losing 3-0 at Bromley after the first game, at Longmead, had finished goalless.
