Tonbridge face the only unbeaten side in National League South when they visit St Albans tomorrow.
Ian Allinson’s team are second with seven wins and three draws from 10 games, and they’ve conceded just four goals.
They struggled last season but it’s a different story this term.
Angels boss Steve McKimm said: “I’m not surprised to see them doing well, and I think they will continue to do well.
“Ian Allinson’s a top manager, he’s done it and Boreham Wood and the season before last he had St Albans up around the play-offs.
“He knows what he’s doing, he’s experienced and he’s recruited well.
“They’ve scored 14 goals, which isn’t that many, but to have conceded four in 10 games is a great record.
“They didn’t have a great season last year but you never get two seasons the same.
“They stuck with Ian Allinson, and he’s producing the goods, which I thought he would.”
Some say defending an unbeaten record can become a burden but McKimm doesn’t agree.
He added: “The confidence is there because they’re unbeaten, so I always look at it as a positive and if you were to lose it’s not the end of the world because you’ve had such a good start.
“I don’t think it’s something for them to worry about because they’re in good form and if they win their games in hand they can go top.
“I’m going to watch the videos on them and try and put a team out that’s going to affect them in a positive way for us.
“It’s another game of football. We look at what they’re not so good at, which isn’t much, and try to get something out of the game.”
