Nathan Elder has signed a new contract at Tonbridge, taking him through to the end of next season.
Top scorer Elder has fired Angels into promotion contention in the Ryman League, Premier Division, with boss Steve McKimm keen to secure his future.
McKimm, whose side visit play-off rivals Kingstonian on Saturday, said: “Nathan has been as important as anyone this season.
“With his goals, his all-round play, his leadership on the pitch, the help he gives younger players and the way he is in the changing room, he’s the complete player at this level.
“I don’t doubt there were people looking at him – there’s bound to be when you’ve scored 20 goals – but we’ve never had an official approach and he was more than happy to stay.
Angels are fourth after four points from two games over the past week.
Tommy Whitnell and Nick Wheeler scored in the final 15 minutes as Angels beat Staines 2-0 at Longmead on Saturday. That was followed by a 1-1 draw at Grays on Wednesday. Midfielder Tom Parkinson gave them a 57th-minute lead, but Jake Hutchings levelled four minutes later.
McKimm has paid tribute to Tonbridge supporters who are enjoying every minute of their promotion push after last season’s relegation battle.
He said: “The good thing about it is the fans aren’t getting carried away. They’re behind the players, but they’ve never put us under any pressure.”
