Tonbridge manager Steve McKimm says it's a joke that James Folkes has to serve a ban even though the referee admitted he was wrong to send him off.
Angels were leading Worthing 1-0 through Joe Turner's strike last Saturday when Folkes was dismissed for handball, referee Elliott Kaye ruling he had denied a goalscoring opportunity.
Worthing converted the penalty and went on to win 2-1.
McKimm says the official admitted he was wrong but an appeal was thrown out and Folkes served the first of a two-game ban when Angels lost 2-1 at Corinthian Casuals on Tuesday night.
The Tonbridge boss said: "I spoke to the referee after the game and said would you be open to me sending you a video and having a conversation and he said yes.
"After looking back at the video evidence, he admitted to me on Sunday it wasn't a red card but Folkes still ends up with a two-game ban.
"The FA have the final say and wouldn't overturn it. It's a joke.
"I don't know what was in the referee's report but I know what he told me.
"I believe we would have won that game if we'd kept 11 men on the park.
"I don't even think it's handball. He's turning his back on the ball with his arms close to his body. It's not a flailing arm.
"If he turns a split-second earlier the ball hits his back."
Turner scored again as Tonbridge battled back from a goal down at Corinthian but the hosts took the points with a 73rd-minute winner.
Back-to-back defeats have seen Angels drop to fourth in the Bostik Premier, four points behind leaders Dorking.
McKimm said: "We had five good chances, a couple from set-pieces and a couple from open play, and they have three chances, yet we lose 2-1.
"Our performance wasn't bad but if you don't score goals, you've got a problem.
"That's not just the forwards, it's all over the pitch.
"Are we creating enough? Maybe not but if you've made five good opportunities you should still score.
"That's our Achilles heel. We need a striker and we'll have one in before Boxing Day."
