Tonbridge Angels manager Jay Saunders on new signing Dajon Golding

Tonbridge boss Jay Saunders has high hopes for new signing Dajon Golding.

The forward made his debut as a second-half substitute in Angels’ 2-1 defeat by Bath on Saturday.

He looked bright, giving them a different dimension in attack, and could be pushing for a start at Concord tonight.

Saunders is a long-time admirer of Golding, 25, and brought him to Longmead from fellow National South club Cheshunt at the end of last week.

“He gives us another option,” said the Angels manager.

“We’ve had Louis (Collins) and Dylan (Gavin) up there and I just felt we needed another option.

“He can play anywhere across the front three.

“At the end of the day we’re not a club who can go out and get a striker that at this level guarantees you 30 goals.

“We can’t afford that, so we’ve got to find ways of getting goals into the team.

“I was pleased with Louis against Bath, I thought he took his goal well, but we’ve got to find ways of getting goals and Dajon is someone I’ve always liked.

“He’s scored three in eight games for Cheshunt in a side that have been struggling so I kind of felt he was someone who could add something different to us.

“When good players become available who I think will add to us, then we’ll bring them in, and that's what's happened with Dajon."

Tenth-placed Tonbridge go to Concord missing influential midfielder Jeremy Santos, who went off before half-time at the weekend with a pulled hamstring.

Right-back Jamie Fielding had been due to start against Bath before feeling his ankle in the warm-up.

With Tommie Fagg, James Taylor and Doug Loft all out, as things stood on Saturday night, Lewis Gard and Scott Wagstaff were the only fit central midfielders.

Opponents Concord are in the bottom four but have won their past two games, including a 3-0 success over Dover.
