Tonbridge Angels' wait for a home win in National League South continued on Saturday.
A late goal from Hemel substitute Omar Rowe secured the win and made it four home games without a win for Tonbridge in an eventful game that saw both teams reduced to 10 men in the first half.
An even start saw half-chances at both ends before Tonbridge went ahead on 17 minutes.
Ben Greenhalgh's deep free-kick was headed back towards goal by Kristian Campbell and Tom Parkinson was on hand to slot home.
The lead lasted only five minutes, though, as Parkinson's foul on Bernard Christie handed Hemel a spot-kick. Jonathan Lacey made no mistake to slot the penalty past keeper Jonny Henly.
It was a shaky opening half for Henly at times, flapping at an early cross and being put under pressure from a string of well-delivered Hemel corners.
But he showed his worth just before half-time with a stunning save to deny Lacey.
By then, Tonbridge had been reduced to 10 men after Tom Beere's 38th-minute dismissal.
Hemel broke away and Beere went in late and high to stop Lacey bursting forward. Referee Aji Ajibola did not hesitate to reach for the red card.
It was 10-a-side in the third minute of stoppage time when Hemel's former Maidstone defender Luke Pennell needlessly picked up a second yellow card.
Booked for a foul near halfway earlier, Pennell couldn't resist to pull down Khale Da Costa and Ajibola, after some thought and strong Angels protests, reached for a second yellow card.
Da Costa nearly caught out Hemel keeper Dean Snedker at the start of the second half when he went for goal from a free-kick with everyone expecting a cross but the ball was turned behind for a corner.
Angels substitute D'Sean Theobalds burst forward just after the hour mark but his left-foot shot went high and wide of the target.
Hemel went close when Young's low drive hit the base of the post and went behind for a goal kick.
The visitors nearly edged ahead with 16 minutes left when a lovely flowing move ended with substitute Rowe firing just wide of the upright.
But Rowe got his range spot-on eight minutes later when he found space 25 yards from goal and delivered a left-foot shot beyond the reach of Henly.
The lively Da Costs nearly levelled in the 86th minute for Angels but Snedker was out smartly to deny him from close range after a lively burst down the right wing.
But as the ball broke free Snekder went down injured and, despite four minutes of treatment on the pitch, he was unable to continue, leaving Hemel to finish the game with nine men and captain Jake Howells taking over in goal.
Tonbridge had seven minutes of stoppage time to find an equaliser with their numerical advantage. But Folkes' left foot shot from a short corner was somehow deflected behind, and that was the closest Tonbridge came to rescuing a point.
