Tonbridge forward Trevan Robinson started running as a kid at athletics club - and he’s hardly stopped since.
Robinson has made a bright start to his time at Longmead after moving up two divisions from Leatherhead.
After scoring 19 goals for the Tanners last season, he’s been entrusted as the main man up top for Angels in National League South.
He’s delivered two goals and four assists in an unbeaten run which has taken Angels to third place in the table.
Fans love a grafter and Robinson doesn’t disappoint with his work rate and attitude as the central striker.
“Having this type of start means the world to me, just to get going and get my head down and work hard,” said Robinson.
“It’s always been me since I was young - just run.
“I’ve always said to myself if I’m not going to play well, I’ll be the hardest-working player on the pitch and if I am going to play well, I’ll still be the hardest-working player on the pitch.
“I thrive on working hard and running hard and being a problem up front.
“I used to do athletics as a kid and I’ve never wanted to come last in anything.
“They used to put me in long-distance races and I never wanted to come last.
“With that, it just built up more energy for me to run.
“When I’m on the pitch, I don’t want it to look like I’m not working hard because then it looks like I don’t care.”
It’s never easy stepping up a couple of levels but Robinson has proved he is more than capable of handling it.
He added: “The way I work and the way I run, as long as you do that, you can go as far as you want.
“It’s difficult goals and assists-wise in this league but I feel I’ve done well so far.
“The teams at this level are a bit more technical so when you’re pressing it’s a lot harder and you’ve got to have more fitness.
“That’s the main thing for me, being able to press like that for 90 minutes instead of 75 or 80 minutes.
“The gaffer believes in me and that’s really helped my confidence and allowed me to get my goals and assists. It’s made me really happy.
“I got injured at the start of pre-season and I thought it was going to be hard to get back in.
“When I came back in, I felt like I needed to work even harder and then when I started the first game of the season, it made want to work even more.”
