Tonbridge Juddians continued their perfect start to the National League 2 East season with a 38-5 thrashing of Worthing.
It’s now played four, won four for the joint league leaders and the signs were ominous for the hosts after just two minutes.
TJs attacked down the left, spun the ball wide right - with a bounce at the end - to find Sam O’Leary Blade who kept his opposite number at bay with ease and sped to the try line.
It took 18 more minutes to add to the tally, this time full-back Howard Packman finished off a move down the left and Sam Evans converted for 12-0.
The speedy Curtis Barnes was then on hand to score the third try with half an hour on the clock and Evans added the extras.
Worthing enjoyed their fair share of the ball, but not territory, and it wasn’t until the final minutes of the half that they mounted a series of drives to the TJ line. The officials adjudged the ball was over the line and the sides went into the break separated by 14 points.
Barnes pounced early in the second half and Evans converted for 26-5, with the try bonus point secured, and when TJs found themselves with an attacking scrum on 50 minutes their pack pushed Worthing back and over their own line, with Matteo Petrozzi having the simplest of touchdowns.
From the restart Tonbridge sent Barnes away from distance for his third try, with Evans again topping up the score, leaving Judds in confident mood ahead of Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash with Guernsey.
