Kingstonian 1 Tonbridge 2
AN 89th minute winner from Anthony Hogg, after a fine penalty save from Jamie Turner, gave Tonbridge a deserved three points against bottom club Kingstonian.
The midielder controlled a tricky cross on the left edge of the area, and cut inside before drilling home through a crowd of players. It was the 25-year-old’s fourth Ryman Premier League goal of the season, but none have been so crucial for the Angels.
They remain in 20th place, but close the gap to the safety zone as only one of the six teams above them, Chelmsford, mangaged a win.
The game started at a fast pace with Tonbridge playing some attractive football against a young Kingstonian side featuring five new signings.
Angels had their own new boy, albeit a returning one, in striker Leroy Huggins who signed from Beckenham on Thursday evening.
Huggins, who left the club in the exodus following Alan Walker’s departure a year ago, gave an impressive showing on his return, going close with two first half chances.
Brendon Cass also saw two efforts saved before breaking the deadlock on 28 minutes.
Huggins provided the through ball for the 21-year-old to slot home, the duo showing signs throughout of a promising partnership.
Turner’s penalty save came on the hour mark when Craig Roser was adjudged to have brought down Giles Coke. Angels thought the award was harsh but felt justice was done as Turner dived low to his right to deny Phil Ruggles.
Rob Paris bundled home a 66th minute equaliser, but Hogg’s late intervention gave Angels their second successive win.
