Former Gills midfielder Doug Loft has joined another Kent club - just days after agreeing a move to Margate.
Loft, 34, was set to link up with Jay Saunders' Isthmian League Margate but with now move to Tonbridge Angels.
But the lure of National League South football at Longmead has seen a swift change of plan for the former Colchester and Port Vale man.
Angels boss Steve McKimm said: “Doug’s CV as you can see speaks for itself.
"This is an important signing for us as he will bring experience and knowledge to our midfield areas which will be to the benefit of the whole squad.”
Loft joined Gillingham in 2014, making 70 appearances and scoring six goals during his spell at Priestfield. After time at Colchester and Shrewsbury, he previously turned out for Billericay.
A club statement from Margate said: "Doug Loft has had an offer of a contract to play in a higher division and therefore has decided not to join Margate.
"Whilst disappointing news, we wish Doug well on the next chapter of his career."
