Steve McKimm fully believes Tonbridge are capable of ending Dartford’s perfect start to the season.
Darts boast the only 100 per cent record in National League South after winning five out of five and host Angels at Princes Park on Saturday.
There’s been no stopping them so far but manager McKimm sees no reason why his side can’t be the first.
“They’ve won five out of five and that’s to be expected with the ammunition they’ve got up top,” said McKimm.
“Their four strikers are some of the best, if not the best four in the league, and they’ve got players to complement them.
“If you go there thinking, ‘They’ve won all their games, they’re going to beat us’ there’s no point turning up.
“They’ve got to lose at some point, and why can’t it be us that beats them?
“It’s going to be very difficult, we know that, they’re one of the favourites for the league.
“They’re strong in every department, and we’ll need every single player on their game, but I believe in my players.
“I’m not one to give them false hope, I believe we’re good enough to go there and get a result, and I hope we do.”
Tonbridge could add a free agent to their squad before the game which follows a 1-1 draw at home to Hampton last weekend.
Substitute Ibrahim Olutade scored in the eighth minute of added time to earn Angels’ first home point.
“We did well but we’ve got to turn playing well into points,” said McKimm.
“We kept plugging away, got the goal and it was nothing less than we deserved.
“I’m pleased for Ibz. He’s been unfortunate because we wanted to go with two up front this season but we’ve changed to one for the first few games.
“We’ve been playing a single striker but he’s come on and got his goal and once he gets his opportunity to start matches, I’m sure he’ll take it with both hands.
“He’s a team player, there’s no sulking or moaning from him. Everyone wants to play but he knows he has to be patient.
“We’ll explore going with two up top but it’s something that’s got to benefit us.
“We can’t just do it for the sake of it, it’s got to be when it suits us for a particular game, and that’s our call, whether it’s one up, two up or three up.
“We played two up last year and the year before and lost out in midfield, so it’s something we learned from and addressed.
“We’ll play a certain way that we think gives us the best chance of getting a result and there will come a time when we know it’s suitable to get two bodies up there.”
