Sonny Miles is set to miss the rest of the season as Tonbridge close in on a Ryman League, Premier Division play-off place.
Miles suffered a shoulder injury at Dulwich over Easter and Angels boss Steve McKimm can’t see the defender featuring again, although fellow centre-half Jerrome Sobers could return from a groin problem at home to Billericay on Saturday.
It’s tough on Miles, who also missed Maidstone’s promotion glory at the end of last season after losing his place.
McKimm said: “I reckon that’s his season over. It’s frustrating for him because he wants to play football.
“He doesn’t like missing games but he’s in a bit of pain with the shoulder and knows he can’t force it. It’s a shame because he’s one of the first names on the team sheet, I rate him that highly.
“We’ve still got his character around the changing room. He’ll be there willing us on, as anyone who’s been injured this season has done.”
Three goals in 14 minutes at the start of the second half saw third-placed Angels win 3-0 at Hendon on Saturday, moving them on to 80 points with three games left.
Tonbridge will be virtually assured of a play-off place if they beat Billericay at Longmead.
McKimm said: “Hopefully, we’ll cement it sooner rather than later. Any nervous times have gone because there are three games left and whatever happens, happens."
