Tonbridge Angels have welcomed back one of their super play-off winners.
Midfielder D’Sean Theobalds has returned to the club less than a year after leaving to play in the top-flight of the Polish league with Korona Kielce.
Theobalds and his team suffered relegation from the Polish Estraklasa division last season and are playing in the second tier this term. With Covid-19 taking hold, the playmaker has decided to settle back in England.
Angels Boss Steve McKimm was delighted to get the player back at Longmead, saying: “He is a footballer of exceptional talent particularly for this level and of course knowing virtually all our players very well, he will immediately fit into our style of play.”
Theobalds scored a wonder-goal in the Isthmian League super play-off in May 2019 , as the Angels beat Met Police 3-2 to clinch a place in National League South.
The club don’t, of course, know when they will start playing the 2020/21 campaign. The Angels were due to kick their season off next month but on the understanding fans would be back.
That start date is now in doubt, as fans will no longer be allowed to return in October, and a National League board meeting is set to take place tomorrow (Thursday) to decide a way forward.
Angels boss Steve McKimm had his say on the matter, fuming about the delay .
