Soccer club chairman steps down

TONBRIDGE Angels are looking for a new chairman. Last year's incumbent Paul Dainty has stepped down from the positionbut will remain on the board.

The Angels had the most successful season ever last year, winning promotion to the Isthmian Premier League and averaging gates of 525 - the fourth highest in Kent behind Gillingham, Gravesend and Dover - but they cannot find anyone willing to take on the top job.

The club is in a healthy financial position with minimal debts but they estimate they will need a "war chest" of around £30,000 to mount a promotion challenge for next season.

Club finance director Robin Apps said they would be prepared to listen to any sensible offers from anyone interested in the position.
