Steve McKimm says Tonbridge need to look at new fundraising ideas to keep their squad together.
There's enough money in Angels' 12th man fund to last into the new year but manager McKimm might have to lose players unless more money can be raised to support the budget.
Tonbridge sit second in the Bostik Premier, behind Dorking on goal difference, after a 4-0 defeat at Haringey on Monday night.
And McKimm knows it will be tough to keep up with the likes of Dorking given their spending power.
He said: "Dorking will be up there with the strength of their squad and they've got money to get other people in, so it's going to be difficult.
"I've just seen some spreadsheets and our 12th man fund, which helps me keep a couple of players, runs out in mid-January.
"So we've got to get our heads together and think of other avenues to raise money.
"Other clubs can just go out and get players in but we're not in a position to do that.
"I'm robbing Peter to pay Paul to get people in.
"That's not me crying wolf, it's a fact. We've had to deal with it and we'll continue to deal with it.
"It won't affect the way we do things on the pitch, it just means we'll have less numbers."
Tonbridge lost 1-0 to Dorking in the FA Trophy second qualifying round on Saturday.
That was followed by the heavy defeat at Haringey, who were knocked out of the FA Cup by AFC Wimbledon in Friday night's live TV game.
McKimm said: "We played very well for long periods but we didn't take our chances, which was the disappointing aspect of it, as well as conceding four goals.
"Their keeper stopped us going 1-0 up two or three times, then they scored and you're chasing it.
"We'd conceded one goal in seven away games and now it's five in eight, which still isn't bad, but because we've conceded four in one game everyone thinks it's the end of the world."
Tonbridge have a chance to bounce back at bottom side Harlow on Saturday and visit Worthing in the League Cup second round on Tuesday.
