Craig Dundas has returned to Sutton this week following his loan spell at Tonbridge.

The striker made his last appearance in the 3-0 FA Cup fourth qualifying round home defeat by Dartford, with the Vanarama National League side exercising their 24-hour call-back option due to injuries and suspensions.

Dundas scored three times with four assists in his eight games at Longmead, and boss Steve McKimm is now challenging Luke Blewden and Tommy Whitnell to earn the vacant spot alongside Nathan Elder.

He said: “Craig’s stay proved very worthwhile, but it’s now up to Luke and Tommy to cement a place in the side and start scoring goals again.”

Tonbridge’s run in the FA Cup– the best since McKimm took charge – put around £15,000 in the Longmead coffers.

They bossed the opening 20 minutes against Darts, before Alex Brown put the visitors in front 10 minutes before half-time.

Close-range strikes by Andy Pugh and Elliot Bradbrook soon after the break did the real damage, with McKimm admitting to mixed emotions about the manner of the defeat.

He said: “I was proud of the players, getting us as far as they did, but disappointed because simple instructions at half-time weren’t followed through.

“I don’t think we were outplayed or out-battled, I just didn’t think we used our brains enough.”

Fifth-placed Tonbridge return to Ryman League Premier Division action at Wingate & Finchley tomorrow (Saturday), looking for their third victory over the north London club already this season.
